May 26, 2010

Dear Parents:

On behalf of the faculty and staff, I would like to wish everyone a safe and enjoyable summer vacation.  This year has gone by very fast, but it has been both successful and rewarding. We are extremely proud of your children and all they have accomplished this year.  Thank you for helping to make this year the best ever!

Please join me in saying goodbye to the following of our staff members who are retiring:   Mrs. Carolyn Jemison, Mrs. Kathy Tanner, Mrs. Elaine Brown and Ms. Rubye Dukes.    We will miss their contributions to our school and the education community.  We wish them all the best in their future endeavors.

The school's media center will be open for parents and students to utilize in a variety of ways during the summer break. Mrs. Johnson will be in the media center on the  following dates: June 15, 17, 22, 24, 29, and 30, morning session, 9-11 am and 1-3 pm afternoon session. The media center will also be open on July 7 & 8, morning session, 9-11 am and afternoon, 1-3 pm.

The Bridges Program will be available this summer for students who will be entering kindergarten for the 2010-2011 school year.  The Bridges Program gives the student the opportunity to experience the school environment and develop an awareness of kindergarten life. The dates for the program will be July 19, 2010 through July 29, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon. The program runs Monday through Thursday each week.   All supplies will be provided.  Remember that this program is only for those kindergarten students who will be attending Hollinger's Island Elementary School in the fall.  The students must be in their school uniform.

Registration for the 2010-2011 school term will be on July 29, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for all grade levels.  Please check the Hollinger's Island Web page for all the required documents that you will need to bring to registration. Parents we have had a change in the form of proofs that are required to register your child.  One of the proofs must be a copy of your deed, mortgage or lease agreement to show that you live in our school zone.   Remember that if your student is on an approved transfer for the 2010-2011 school term, you will need to bring a copy of the approved transfer form to registration.

Sincerely,

Doris Tillman
